Common problems

Problems we diagnose and repair.

Drying problems may involve heat, airflow, sensors, drive components, or controls. Because restricted venting can mimic an appliance failure and create a safety concern, diagnosis should account for both the dryer and its operating conditions.

  • Dryer tumbles but produces no heat
  • Clothes take too long or remain damp
  • Drum will not turn or the dryer will not start
  • Squealing, scraping, thumping, or rumbling noise
  • Dryer shuts off early or runs too hot
  • Controls, timer, or moisture sensing do not work correctly

Helpful answers

Dryer repair questions.

Why does my dryer run without heating?

The cause can be a heating or ignition component, airflow restriction, sensor, power-supply issue, or control failure. Testing is needed before choosing a part.

Do long dry times always mean the dryer is broken?

No. Vent restriction, load size, washer spin performance, and room airflow can also extend drying time. We separate installation or vent conditions from appliance failures.

Should I keep using a noisy dryer?

Stop using it if the noise is severe, scraping, or accompanied by a burning smell. Continued operation can turn a worn drive component into additional damage.
